The Bullet food processor is a unique and handy kitchen appliance. Designed to chop, mince, grind, blend and puree small quantities of food and drinks, this processor is roughly the size of a coffee mug. You may have seen the Bullet advertised on television infomercials; but does it live up to the hype?
In some ways, yes. The Bullet is tough enough to handle tasks like coffee grinding, ice crushing and juicing. However, the quantity of food and speed of processing have been exaggerated somewhat. For any job over a cup or so, you may be better off using a Bosch, Kitchen Aid or Moulinex food processor or blender.
The Bullet is used to prepare iced or steamed drinks, with detachable mugs that are used to mix and store your processed beverage in the refrigerator. Colored rings that fit the lip of the mugs are an original feature; they color code your drinks so you can tell them apart. This processor is said to be able to chop, grind, prepare or mince any food ingredient in under 10 seconds. While that is true for soft or small ingredients, it takes a lot of shaking and banging the blender unit on the counter to loosen harder and larger ingredients from the sides of the processor and into the blade. While the infomercial claims that the Bullet is able to process whole vegetables, the included recipe book states that ingredients must be chopped or boiled before processing.
While the powerful motor and sharp blade make quick work of soft fruits, vegetables, cheeses and meats, it is only suitable for very small quantities of food. To prepare portions larger than one cup, you may be interested in a Kitchen Aid, Moulinex or Bosch food processor or blender. There are a lot of other options within the $100.00 price range that the Bullet falls into.
