Rather than use a blade to grind the coffee beans, this grinder uses a burr, which is a slow rotation that does not whip up any static so the grounds still retain the full flavour of the beans.
You can put over 1/2 pound of beans into the bean hopper and the grind hopper. With this Solis model, you can actually grind the fine grounds into an espresso filter basket. You can remove all the burrs on the Maestro so that you have easy access to all parts of the grinder for cleaning. If you are worried that this machine will produce coarse grounds, then you don't have to fret.
The mill lets you adjust the setting you want when you are grinding and has a large range of settings than any other coffee mill available. However, you cannot put coffee that has already been ground into this mill to grind it any finer.
